Canada World Junior selection camp on hold following COVID-19

RED DEER (660 NEWS) – Hockey Canada says their World Junior Selection camp is on the back burner for the next two weeks because two players tested positive for COVID-19.

“Following the confirmation of two positive tests among players at Canada’s National Junior Sport Chek Selection Camp on Monday, Hockey Canada has confirmed that all players, coaches and staff are considered close contact and therefore subject to the mandatory 14- day quarantine period,” said Scott Salmond, Senior VP of National teams.

Salmond says they will continue to abide by all protocols and guidelines put forth by the Alberta Government and they will pause all camp activities until the quarantine period is complete.

The 2021 World Juniors are scheduled to start on Boxing Day in Edmonton.
