ASIRT investigating fatal officer-involved shooting in Beltline

CALGARY (660NEWS) — The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is investigating a fatal, officer-involved shooting in Calgary’s Beltline area.
Shortly after 4:00 Wednesday afternoon, police responded to a call at the Nuvo Hotel along 12 Ave. and 8 St. S.W. after someone called about a person with a gun.
Due to an ongoing police incident, several roads are closed in the area of 12 Avenue S.W., between 7th to 9th Street. Please avoid the area. There is no public safety risk at this time.

Following a confrontation between police and the gun holder, one person was shot and killed.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
Police say the area will be closed off for some time and asking everyone to avoid the road.
