Nearly 5M Canadians experienced a breakup during the pandemic: survey

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Has the COVID-19 pandemic put major stress on your relationships?

A new survey shows that millions of Canadians have seen their relationships break apart since the pandemic began one year ago.

The poll, issued by Finder Canada, showed 15 per cent or nearly five million Canadians have had a break-up or divorce in the past year.

About one-quarter of those break-ups happened to younger Canadians, age 18-24, while over 13 per cent of those 25-34 said they had a breakup or divorce.

The stats differ depending on where in Canada you live, Quebec saw the highest rate of break-ups with 30 per cent while Nova Scotia was second at 21 per cent.

The survey also looked at which “quarantine quirks” bothered couples the most with the majority of men polled said they’re concerned with their partner’s quarantine lack of style, with 14 per cent citing their partner sporting track pants often as the quirk that bothers them the most.
