New temporary COVID-19 testing site to open in northeast Calgary

A temporary COVID-19 centre is being opened in Calgary’s northeast to help meet a high demand for testing.

CALGARY (660 NEWS) — In an effort to increase testing for COVID-19 in Calgary, Alberta Health Services (AHS) has announced it will be opening up a temporary assessment site in the northeast.

The site will be located at the McKnight Westwinds Park & Ride lot at 6200 36 Street N.E. and can be found at the south parking lot of the LRT station.

Anyone who comes for their test is asked to remain in their car until called by a nurse.

The walk-up testing site will be for anyone with COVID-19 symptoms or those who are close contacts of someone with COVID-19.

It is believed this site will be able to conduct 500 tests a day by early next week, with the goal of completing as many as 2,000 tests a day once the site is operating at full capacity.
