Potentially ineffective vaccine given to a handful of people in Lethbridge: AHS

LETHBRIDGE – Alberta Health Services is notifying 10 people who received their Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in Lethbridge that the shot they got was potentially ineffective.
The vaccines, which were only saline and not the actual vaccine, were doled out at the Lethbridge Exhibition at the end of April.
The saline water diluent is part of the final vaccine product and is administered as part of the shot.
Manufacturers of the COVID-19 vaccine provide vaccine and diluent in separate vials which are mixed together prior to administering the final vaccine product.
There are no anticipated side effects from only being given saline instead of vaccine.
