CALGARY — Calgary fire crews were busy during the dinner hour taking on a pair of house fires in the city.
Around 5 p.m., calls came in about a home on fire along Radcliffe Drive SE.
Upon arrival, crews saw large amounts of smoke coming from the home, with flames coming out the back.
The fire was able to be contained to the home, protecting homes on either side of the original house.
During inspection of the home, two reptiles were found and removed from the home, while one dog was found dead. Two people that were inside the home at the time were treated for smoke inhalation with one transported to hospital.

Then, around 5:40 p.m., crews were called to a house fire along Martinwood Way NE.
Upon arrival to that fire, smoke and flames could be seen coming from the second story of the house.
Thanks to an aggressive attack from the inside of the home, crews were able to contain the fire. All four occupants of the house were able to get out safely with no injuries.
Both fires are now under investigation.
