Smoke to settle in Calgary again: wildfire tracker

CALGARY – Calgarians have enjoyed a break from the hazy sky over the last couple of days but the wildfire smoke is set to make a return to the city.

Firesmoke.ca, a site that tracks wildfires and their smoke in North America, anticipates more smoke will be blown into Calgary at some point Thursday night into Friday morning.

It appears most of it will be coming from wildfires burning in B.C. with some coming from Washington State and Montana.

There are no special air quality statements in effect from Environment Canada at this point, but that could change as the smoke settles.

Earlier this week, Environment Canada said there was no clear end in sight for the smoke in Calgary.

“It looks like we’re going to be dealing with the smoke for quite a while over the next week or even two,” said Kyle Fougere, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, in a previous interview.
