Man killed in pedestrian crash near Lake Louise

LAKE LOUISE — A man from Ontario is dead, and a woman has been taken to hospital after being hit by a truck near Lake Louise on Thursday morning.

Around 9:15 a.m., the two were on the side of Highway 1 near the popular tourist destination when they were hit by the truck.

EMS and STARS air ambulance were called to the scene and attempted to resuscitate the 39-year-old man but those efforts were unsuccessful and he was declared dead on scene.

The woman was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

Traffic in the area has been reduced and investigators are working to figure out what led to the fatal crash.
