Alberta energy minister lays into Joe Biden for cancelling Keystone pipeline

EDMONTON — Alberta’s energy minister is lashing out at the U.S. president over a request to OPEC to boost oil production.

Sonya Savage says this “smacks of hypocrisy” after Joe Biden cancelled the Keystone XL Pipeline soon after taking office this year.

Officials within the President’s administration are criticizing suppliers such as Saudi Arabia for insufficient production, saying this is inflating prices and making gas less affordable.

Savage says Keystone would have provided a stable source of energy at a reduced cost, and the Alberta government will continue pushing for these sorts of projects as long as demand remains

The U.S. government cancelled the Keystone pipeline amid concerns about environmental damage.
