Around 2 a.m. on Aug. 6, a man broke the glass door at Simply Irie on 6 Street SW and went into the restaurant to grab the cash register before taking off on his bike.

The 46-year-old was charged with break and enter in relation to the theft. He’s scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 27.

Simply Irie has been the target of a string of incidents, but police do not believe that these break-ins and thefts have been hate-motivated.

Police are still looking for a suspect in the July theft from the restaurant, where a man broke into the patio and stole 10 chairs.
