One dead, two injured in crash near Jasper

JASPER, Alta. – Mounties west of Edmonton say a head-on crash on Highway 16, killed one person and injured two others.

Jasper RCMP says shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday, a pickup truck and a sedan collided head-on when the car tried to pass other vehicles on the highway.

The 21-year-old driver of the car died at the scene. The 30-year-old driver and 29-year-old passenger of the truck were taken to hospital and released with minor injuries.

All three people were from Alberta.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
