Mounties release details following ‘shelter in place’ situation south of Calgary

Mounties are out with more information about why they evacuated several homes in Black Diamond, southwest of Calgary, and asked those at the hospital, several schools, and daycares to shelter in place on Tuesday.

Alberta RCMP says officers were told about a man uttering threats in the community just before noon.

They sent in the RCMP Emergency Response Team and police dogs to the mobile home park and some people living nearby were evacuated as a precaution.

Police got the man in his 50s to surrender to officers without incident around 5 p.m.

Police say he was in medical distress and they took him to an area hospital for assessment.
