Warm weather on the horizon as cold snap concludes

After two weeks of bitterly cold weather in Calgary, and across all of Alberta, there is some relief in the forecast.

The last time temperatures held above freezing was before Christmas, and it’s been frigid ever since.

But, a quick glance at the upcoming forecast shows a dramatic jump in temperatures coming over the next few days.

“Warm air will start pumping in on Monday and really sets up with a westerly wind for early next week,” explained CityNews Meteorologist Michael Kuss.

According to Kuss, the cold will stick around through Saturday, then beginning Sunday, things will start heating up significantly.

“From today to Monday we could see temperatures rising a full 40 degrees, going from about 20 degrees below average for daytime highs to as much as 10 degrees above average, maybe even more, 15 degrees above average,” said Kuss.

Should things hold steady over the next few days, Calgary could be looking at temperatures in the low teens for a few days at the beginning of next week.
