Calgary’s tech sector is continuing to grow. Unity Technologies, a leading videogame, and 3D content company, has opened new offices in the city.
Calgary Economic Development (CED) says the 25,000 square foot “innovation centre” in Brookfield Place is being described as a creative space for collaboration within the tech and gaming industry.

“Unity opening this Calgary innovation centre is truly the embodiment of the vision for Calgary to be the city for people and companies who want to use innovative thinking and advanced technology to help solve global challenges,” said Brad Parry, the President and CEO of CED.
Unity is well known in the gaming industry for its asset store, where it sells 2D and 3D models, environments, audio, and various other development tools. It’s also known for its Unity Engine which several popular games use, including the critically acclaimed, made-in-Canada Cuphead.
The CED release says the new space will help develop the local tech scene and create high-skill jobs in the industry.
“Working with our partners at OCIF, our goal was to create a space where local entrepreneurs can come to be inspired and our local business partners can collaborate to express creativity and apply technology to their different industries,” said Ryan Peterson, vice-president of Accelerate Solutions at Unity, and co-founder of Finger Food—another software company acquired by Unity in May 2020.
