Masks required for two weeks for international travellers arriving in Canada

By Sarah Chew

Did you know you need to wear a mask if you’re coming back to Canada from an international trip?

According to the federal government, fully vaccinated travelers must wear a mask in public places for two weeks after they arrive in the country.

Other than uploading your proof of vaccination and travel documents to ArriveCAN within 72 hours of your arrival to Canada, travelers are required to also keep a list of all close contacts and locations they visit for their first 14 days in the country.

Fully vaccinated travelers and unvaccinated children must also monitor themselves for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 for two weeks upon arrival.

If they test positive for COVID-19, they must isolate for 10 days – regardless of the provincial quarantine regulations.

They must report their test results and symptoms to the Public Health Agency of Canada.

Another change is that starting April 1, pre-entry tests aren’t required anymore for fully vaccinated travelers entering Canada – although you may be randomly selected for a mandatory arrival test.

The one rule that hasn’t changed – all travelers must wear masks in Canadian airports and onboard planes and trains.
