Another battle between Alberta and Ottawa is shaping up – this time it’s focused on gun control policy.
Teri Bryant, Alberta’s Chief Firearms Officer is calling on the federal Liberals to immediately reverse course on their 2020 gun ban.
On April 30th, the two year amnesty on 1,500 types of firearms, ranging from antiques to common sporting firearms will become illegal.

Alberta’s Chief Firearms officer is calling on the federal government to cancel its ban on around 1,500 different models of guns.
The measure was passed by the federal government in May 2020 and will ban what they have termed ‘assault-style weapons,’ but its implementation has been delayed until at least next year.
Teri Bryant, the province’s Chief Firearms Officer, says in a written letter to the federal public safety minister such a ban isn’t backed up by the evidence surrounding gun crimes.

Bryant added the money spent on legislation would be better spent prosecuting “gun traffickers,” as opposed to “honest, law-abiding” citizens.
