According to the latest update from the province, there’s been an increase in the number of people in hospital due to COVID-19, but the number of patients in the intensive care units is down.
Alberta hospitalization numbers stand at 1,126, up 73 from the previous week, while the number of patients in the ICU is down by 3 to a total of 43.
In the province’s weekly update, Health Minister Jason Copping says the waitlist for surgeries is shrinking across Alberta.

“The system continues to complete near-normal volumes of surgery,” Copping said. “The waiting list continues to come down gradually, it’s currently about 7,200 compared to 76,600 at the beginning of March and 68,000 before the pandemic.”
Copping says despite the increase in COVID cases the number of people in the hospital has remained stable overall.
