Calgary recognizes ‘Neighbour Day 2022’ and community spirit

Saturday is Neighbour Day in Calgary, an opportunity for Calgarians to celebrate community spirit, kindness and resilience.

It’s also a way for neighbours to get together after more than two years of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Neighbour Day originally began in June 2014 to celebrate the support and generosity neighbours demonstrated after the 2013 floods.

Some activities the City of Calgary is suggesting for the community include:

  • Organizing a block party
  • Hosting a BBQ
  • Setting up a scavenger hunt
  • Going for a group walk to explore the neighbourhood
  • Organizing a community clean-up
  • Have a backyard or driveway get-together
  • Or plan a special event with neighbours by applying for a permit
