Tornado warning issued briefly Tuesday night for Wheatland County

Some tense moments for residents living in Wheatland County east of Calgary on Tuesday evening.

At 8:18 p.m., a rotating severe thunderstorm possibly producing a tornado was spotted near Carseland, moving northeast at 40 km/h.

The tornado warning ended just before 9 p.m.

No word on whether any funnel clouds were spotted or tornadoes touched down

A tornado watch also issued on Tuesday night for the Brooks, Strathmore and Vulcan area.

It was all part of storm systems moving through Southern Alberta which included a severe thunderstorm warning for the city of Calgary.

The storm that moved through the Calgary area reportedly produced some hail but no reports of major damage.

That warning was downgraded to a watch and then the watch itself ended just before 9:30 p.m.
