The Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC) in Calgary will lead a rally and march for victory titled Ukraine will Prevail on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Stephania Romaniuk, rally organizer for the UCC in Calgary, says they want to bring awareness to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and to show the strength and solidarity of the Ukrainian community in the city.
“If Russia stops fighting, there will be no more war. But If Ukraine stops fighting, there will be no more Ukraine,” Romaniuk said to CityNews.
The rally will have plenty of Ukrainian Canadians and people with ties and connections to Ukraine.
It is expected to begin with a rally at Poppy Plaza on Memorial Drive.
The war in Ukraine is moving into its sixth month, with the world witnessing the indomitable spirit of Ukraine’s armed forces, and citizens.
“We’ve already seen thousands of civilians and military causalities .. whether its doctors, nurses, people who are fighting in the Ukraine army, people who are civilians that are just trying to stop tanks in their hands,” said Romaniuk.
