Parks Canada, in an update Friday, says the Chetamon wildfire is “being held” at 6,000 hectares, and it’s not anticipating any growth beyond the current boundaries.
Firefighters controlling the Chetamon wildfire are going to focus on putting out hot spots on the south and east sides of the fire, rangers said.
Jasper park says a hose is going to be established from Celestine Lake south to head off the wildfire.
It adds that firefighters are going to move equipment and resources along those perimeters on the south and east of the fire.
The park says no communities are in danger of the wildfire.
Friday’s update states that six helicopters have been bucketing in accessible terrain, along with close to 100 firefighters working on the fire.
Rangers say the areas northeast of the Snaring River have not received enough rain, but the cool temperatures are helping.
