A middle school teacher has been arrested by Rocky Mountain RCMP after they received reports of the sexual assault of a youth in early October.
Mounties say they arrested 44-year-old Tyler Kanten and charged him with sexual interference and sexual assault on Oct. 13 after an investigation.
Officers add that the incident did not involve a student at the school.
The Wild Rose School Division (WRSD) say they are going to conduct an internal review on the suspect and the school he taught at after word of the arrest was made.
“We want to assure the students, staff and parents of Wild Rose School Division that throughout this process and at all times, student safety and the provision of powerful learning environments will continue to be our number one priority in all of our schools,” said the WRSD in a statement.
The Caroline School website lists Kanten as a middle school math and science teacher.
He has been suspended and is unable to contact any students at the school.
