Calgary Crescent Heights hit-and-run: Car sends teen flying 25 metres

Calgary police say a vehicle sent a teen to hospital with life-threatening injuries Wednesday, and they are looking for the driver.

It happened around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at 1 Street NW and 11 Avenue in front of Crescent Heights High School.

Officers say a “black Audi” was travelling at high speed and struck a 14-year-old boy, sending him flying 25 metres from where he stood.

EMS took the boy to Foothills Hospital with serious life-threatening injuries.

The Audi did not stop and drove away into a nearby alley, and police add that two or three teenage boys were inside the vehicle.

Investigators say the front of the Audi is believed to have “extensive” damage.

Drugs or alcohol have been ruled out, and speed is considered the main factor.
