Stolen police badge recovered: Cochrane RCMP

Police say officers have recovered the RCMP badge that was stolen from a home in Cochrane on Nov. 27 in a break and enter.

Officers add they have also recovered one of the two vehicles that were stolen in the same incident.

Police say on Nov. 27 and at around 4:15 a.m., four suspects entered the house, and according to the doorbell camera footage, one man entered the main floor of the house from the front door, and took a bag that had an RCMP badge in it, and car keys. The suspect then ran away with another person and stole the victim’s Dodge Ram truck.

Meanwhile, another video shows two more suspects coming from an SUV that was waiting down the street, where they drove away taking the victim’s other vehicle, this time a Kia Telluride that was parked in the driveway.

While the robbery consisted of four suspects, police have identified two suspects. One of the identified suspects was arrested, while another one is “wanted on outstanding warrants.”

Mounties say on Dec. 13 they arrested 23-year-old Dalton Winnipeg-Darling, from Strathmore, in a stolen vehicle. They add they were also able to recover the stolen badge.

The suspect has been charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property (x2), theft over $5,000, and failure to comply with conditions.
