Calgary shooting leaves one dead in Forest Lawn

Calgary police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened on Christmas morning in the southeast community of Forest Lawn.

Officers say they were called at 4:30 a.m. for reports of shots fired on 23 Avenue and 36 Street.

When they arrived, they found one man hurt. The man was taken to hospital where he later died.

Police say an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

They have not determined whether this incident is a homicide or not. If it’s a homicide, this will be the 26th one of the year.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234, or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
