If you are heading to CrossIron Mills looking for Boxing Day deals, prepare for post-Christmas commuter chaos.
CityNews reports that the turn onto Deerfoot Trail NE from Stoney is “a parking lot” in either direction, whether going eastbound or westbound. Commuters report both exit ramps are blocked.
The four lanes of Deerfoot Trail North, near the intersection going into CrossIron Mills are also being slowed down.
“If you are heading on Deerfoot north, you might just want to slow down when you get to the edge of the city, because of the amount of traffic you’re going to slow down anyway,” said CityNews cameraman Nick Blakeney.
“The two lanes getting into the mall are literally at a standstill, but Deerfoot has crept right down to about … 50 kilometres an hour.”
No injuries are reported at this time, with the traffic stemming from “people going to the mall.”
