Police say they believe a man in his 20s was driving southbound along Macleod Trail when his vehicle, a late-model Lexus, mounted the curb at the intersection, hit a concrete pillar, then came to a full stop on the north side of the adjacent cemetery at 31 Avenue SW.

The man was the only occupant of the car, and was pronounced dead on scene.

Officers add alcohol and speed could be factors leading to the crash.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234, or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
