Calgary police seek CCTV footage in Deerfoot Park homicide

Calgary police seek the public’s help in getting CCTV footage of events that led to the death of a woman whose body was found in Deerfoot Athletic Park.
The body of 58-year-old Judy Maerz was found on Feb. 16 at around 10:30 a.m., and police have since ruled her death a homicide.
On Saturday, police shared photos of Maerz with the public in hopes that people who recognize her would come forward and share information with police.
Meanwhile, officers are trying to build a “timeline” of the victim’s final movements.
“We have been making progress in piecing together Judy’s final activities through tips and information from the public and her associates,” said S Sgt. Sean Gregson of the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit. “CCTV and dashcam footage have been critical in helping us narrow down our timeline of events leading up to the morning of Feb. 16, and we are asking for more video from the public to be able to complete the puzzle.”

They are asking for footage from numerous locations in Renfrew and Mayland Heights between the hours of 2 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 16.

- Russet Road from Eighth Avenue to 16 Avenue N.E.

- Edmonton Trail from Eighth Avenue to 16 Avenue N.E.
- 10 Street N.E. from Eighth Avenue to First Avenue N.E.
