The RCMP in Coaldale says a man has been taken into custody after it responded to reports that he robbed a 9-year-old child with an axe on Saturday.
Mounties say they arrived on the scene at around 4:30 p.m. on March 11, minutes after the initial call, and arrested the man at a nearby residence.
No one was injured.
Police say the suspect was also failing to comply with conditions from a previous conviction in Lethbridge of a similar robbery.
As a result, 22-year-old Tazzmaine Good Dagger from Standoff has been charged with robbery with an offensive weapon and two counts of failing to comply with a probation officer.
The suspect has been remanded in custody awaiting his next appearance in Lethbridge Provincial Court on March 15.
The charges against Dagger have not been proven in court.
“Coaldale RCMP would like to thank the witnesses who called police immediately and stayed on scene to provide crucial information which led to the quick arrest of the male,” a statement from the Coaldale RCMP reads.
