Things to do in Calgary on Mother’s Day

Sunday is Mother’s Day, and Mother Nature is cooperating with Calgary, as warm weather and sunshine are in the forecast allowing various activities to take place.

You can take your mother outside to a nearby park and enjoy the good weather.

If you fancy a little retail therapy with your mom, you can find more than 75 vendors, food trucks, and kid friendly activities at the Marda Loop Communities Association’s Mother’s Day extravaganza Sunday from 10 a.m. till 4 p.m.

“Authentically Indigenous” is holding a Mother’s Day craft market called “Honouring the Matriarchs.”

You’ll find unique Indigenous artists from the Treaty 7 area of southern Alberta with handmade crafts, art, and jewelry.

The craft market is open Sunday and Monday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Kerby Centre Gymnasium at 11133 Avenue SW.

Meanwhile, the community of Inglewood took to Twitter to invite Calgarians to check the community’s local businesses.

“Inglewood invites you to embrace the joy of Mother’s Day, where love, laughter, and shopping intertwine in a harmonious symphony. This year, we’re thrilled to showcase the incredible shops and businesses,” reads the tweet.

You can also celebrate with a cause by supporting the Calgary Food Bank.

“Happy Mothers Day from the Calgary Food Bank team. If you would like to help a mom who needs support, please consider donating to our Bare Bottoms Diaper Drive,” said the food bank in a tweet.

The Calgary Human Society says on Twitter its animals can help those facing difficulties.

“To all of those who celebrate today with family and to those that might see days like this as difficult, our animals are here for you,” reads the tweet.

Last but not least, Calgary’s iconic tower took to Twitter to send warm wishes.

‘Wishing a Happy Mothers Day to all the amazing mothers out there, especially the hardworking moms,” reads the tweet.
