Calgary under fire advisory as hot, dry conditions continue
As smoke blankets Calgary Tuesday and the air quality continues to decrease, the city has made the decision to issue a fire advisory.
Most of Alberta is already under advisories or bans due to the ongoing wildfire situation, which has been made worse due to continuing hot and dry conditions.
Calgarians are being asked to use extra caution and avoid using open flames, fire pits, and campfires whenever possible.

“We ask that everyone be vigilant when disposing of smoking materials and when using any outdoor flames,” Calgary fire marshal Glenn Baxter said.
This is not an outright fire ban or fire restriction, though that direction could be modified rather quickly, the notice states.

The city says fire conditions in Calgary are considered to be moderate but may change as higher temperatures and gusting winds continue, with little precipitation in the forecast.
Residents in the region should keep up to date with restrictions via the Alberta fire bans website.
The city adds that smoke from wildfires can fluctuate quickly and vary across localized areas.

Due to the poor air quality, people are being urged to reduce or reschedule outdoor activities, especially if you experience symptoms like coughing and throat irritation.
Environment and Climate Change Canada says everyone responds to smoke differently, but mild irritation and discomfort are common and typically go away when the smoke clears.
Drinking lots of water can help your body deal with the smoke, the weather service says.
Residents should also keep windows and doors closed if the temperature in their homes is comfortable.
This comes as the wildfire situation in Alberta continues, with 87 active wildfires as of Tuesday.
