Tornado touches down in field northeast of Calgary

By Todd Kaufman & Mark Strashok

Alberta recorded its first tornado of the 2023 storm season on Wednesday afternoon.

Environment Canada issued the warning for the storm system just after 4:45 p.m. for the Stettler region.

Photos from a number of storm chasers popped up on Twitter, showing a large landspout tornado twisting in a field with dirt being kicked up.

The tornado only lasted a few moments, as Environment Canada ended the warning about 15 minutes later.

No injuries have been reported.

The first tornado in Canada this season touched down near Regina over the weekend.

That one did some damage to a farm in the area.
