More details released after crash east of Calgary leaves 2 critically hurt

The Airdrie Rural RCMP is providing more details after a crash earlier this week left two people critically hurt.

Mounties say the driver and passenger of the SUV involved in the collision with a semi truck have been identified as sisters in their 20s from France.

According to investigators, the two vehicles collided at the intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 564 around 2 p.m. Tuesday.

They say the SUV crossed in front of the semi and was hit.

Both the driver and passenger of the SUV were rushed to Foothills Hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

As the investigation into the crash continues, police say drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been factors.
