Grass fires keep Calgary fire crews busy Friday

By Todd Kaufman

Fire crews responded to a number of grass fires around Calgary on Friday.

A large grass fire in the Manchester Industrial Area in the southeast was called in around 8:30 p.m.

The fire was in an area between Builders Road and Manitou Road near an Amazon warehouse.

No damages to nearby buildings or injuries have been reported.

The cause of that fire is not known at this time.

The battalion chief says some of the fires are believed to be intentional while others are started from things like exhaust manifolds on mowers.

No word on charges as the investigations are ongoing.
