Calgary police have charged the Black Lives Matter YYC president after a fight broke out at a protest in front of Western Canada High School.
The incident happened on May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia.

Officers attended the event that started at around 10 a.m. to “support public safety.”
They say around 80 people were at the school when a fight broke out between the two groups of supporters and those opposed to the day.
Accordingly, the fight was between “several individuals with opposing views,” resulting in one group assaulting a youth and a man.
BLM YYC president, 47-year-old Adora Nwofar, is facing one count of assault and one count of mischief. They say “hate motivation” was a factor in the incident.
She is expected to appear in court on July 17.
This also comes after reports of a hate-crime charge against her was dropped on June 16.

This is the second set of charges in the incident that saw multiple arrests, including two on the day of the incident.
Investigators say the two people taken into custody on May 17 were later released without any charges.
Taylor McNallie, 32, was the first, and she faces two counts of assault, one count of sexual assault, and one count of unlawful confinement, according to police.
Right-wing figure and high school student from Ontario, Josh Alexander, began posting plans on Twitter for an “International Walkout Protest” on May 17 in opposition to transgender rights.
He posted a poll asking his followers where he should host the “walkout,” with Western Canada High School in Calgary ultimately playing host.
A memo posted to the Liberty Coalition Canada website, a group with which Alexander has been affiliated, says, “Josh and fellow protesters are demanding that all schools ban biological males using female restrooms and change rooms.”
Young people showed up outside the school to counter Alexander and his rhetoric.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, pending additional charges against others involved.
