Calgary police investigate stabbing which closed 8 Street CTrain station for hours

Calgary Transit says 8 Street Station eastbound has re-opened following a Calgary police investigation Monday morning.

Calgary police say at 5 a.m. an injured man used a help phone at 8 Street CTrain station to call for help.

Calgary Transit then called emergency services who transported the man to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Police say they believe the man was stabbed.

A review of CCTV footage indicated a potential suspect description, according to investigators.

The person was tracked through Century Gardens Park where he was taken into custody, police say.

The station platform was closed for several hours to allow police to investigate, re-opening around 10:15 a.m.
