10 charged in undercover human trafficking investigation on Tsuut’ina Nation

Multiple people have been arrested and dozens of charges laid following an undercover operation into human trafficking on Tsuu’tina nation.

Several suspects have been charged following an undercover human trafficking investigation on Tsuut’ina Nation.

In a release, Tsuut’ina police say investigators, in partnership with the Calgary Police Service (CPS), found out in May that people were arranging meetings to get sexual services from underage girls.

The investigation was part of Project Buffalo, an initiative to “combat the exploitation of minors through the purchase of sexual services.”

As a result, 10 people have been arrested and 31 charges have been laid.

“This investigation highlights the importance of proactive policing initiatives and collaboration with survivor informed organizations to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable members of our community,” said Chief of Police Keith Blake. in a statement.

“We remain committed to disrupting the demand for sexual services and safeguarding our Nation.”
