The province is changing how it presents COVID-19 data to Albertans, the ministry of health told CityNews Thursday.
This comes after updated data was expected to be made available Wednesday, and wasn’t.
When asked about the delay, Charlotte Taillon from the health ministry told CityNews in a statement that the province is revising how it presents data to Albertans “in order to more accurately depict the current situation.”
“We are working to expand the data and dashboard to include other respiratory diseases such as RSV and influenza,” she added.
An update on that work is expected when the work is completed, according to the government.
Numbers currently posted to the government’s website and in the interactive data application are up-to-date as of July 24, 2023.
At the onset of the pandemic, numbers were reported daily, oftentimes by then Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw.
After some time, reports became weekly.
In July, the province announced it was moving to a monthly reporting model.
