Cochrane aquatic centre reopens amid water line repairs

The Town of Cochrane fully reopened Spray Lakes Sawmills Family Sports Centre’s (SLSC) Jayman BUILT Aquatic Centre Sunday after making progress on water line repairs.
Municipal officials say reservoir levels continue to be “effectively sustained” at this time. This comes after the town experienced a sewage line break in relation to a construction project in the area on Oct. 21.
All drop-in activities and shower access will resume at the aquatic centre. However, the women’s pool changeroom is temporarily closed for “emergent plumbing and carpentry repair,” and is expected to reopen by Nov. 4.
“During this time, please use the Universal pool changeroom and allow extra time for changing and showering,” the SLSC said.

Level three water restrictions remain in place due to officials assessing the impact of the reopening, which means outdoor water use is prohibited, water pressure will be reduced as required, and bulk water sales are being temporarily suspended.
Officials are asking residents to use water sparingly by limiting doing laundry, washing dishes by hand, and reducing shower time.
