Calgary police look to identify woman killed by CTrain

Calgary police are investigating after a woman died when she was hit by a CTrain Saturday night.

Investigators say just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, a train was travelling south on 36 Street NE, crossing over 16 Avenue NE, when a woman walked in the path of the train in an area where there is no access for pedestrians and was hit.

Police say she suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The train driver, who wasn’t hurt, stopped and stayed at the scene, according to investigators.

Excessive speed, alcohol, and drugs aren’t considered to be factors in the incident.

Investigators are working to identify the woman.
