Calgary’s YYC preparing for 55k guests per day this holiday season

Plans to travel over the holidays? YYC Calgary International Airport has some advice for you.
From Dec. 16 to Jan. 3, an average of 55,000 guests are expected to travel through YYC per day — 1.3 million in December alone.
“We’re thrilled to extend a warm welcome to everyone travelling through YYC this holiday season,said Chris Miles, chief operating officer of the Calgary Airport Authority. “Whether you’re off exploring new places, visiting loved ones or returning to familiar destinations, YYC and our partners are hard at work to ensure you have a safe and seamless journey through our airport.”
For the best holiday travel experience, YYC encourages travelers to book parking online and ahead of time through the online parking reservation system and to make the most of YYC Express, an online reservation platform that allows travelers to book their spot in the security line ahead of time.
Kids Zones and quiet spaces around the terminal are available for families at the airport to make their travel day smooth, as are customer care ambassadors, White Hat Volunteers and Pre-Board Pals.
YYC also says it offers accessibility assistance for people of all ages and abilities.
Travelers are encouraged to visit the airport’s holiday landing page to find all the information that people need in one place, including resources on when to arrive, what to pack, and where to eat and shop.
Those planning on a boarding a plan should check with their airline for the most up-to-date information on flights and departure time.
YYC is also reminding fliers to come early — at least two hours before a domestic flight and three hours before an international flight to make sure there’s enought time to check in, go through security, U.S. border control for those going to the States.
Be sure to also account for winter road conditions when planning travel to the airport.
Those flying into YYC can save themselves some time by using Advance Declaration, which lets them submit their customs and immigration declaration up to 72 hours in advance of their arrival.
When making customs declarations, remember to include any alcohol, gifts, as well as food, plant, and animal products.
