Calgary police seek information on pot shop robbery suspects

Calgary police are asking for the public’s help in identifying suspects linked to several violent armed robberies at several cannabis stores.

They say there have been 12 cannabis store robberies in Calgary since Nov. 14, including in one instance where the suspects kicked the store clerk unconscious and pulled out a knife.

Officers were called for a robbery of the 420 Cannabis store on 33 Avenue SW on Nov. 15, and they also responded to two robberies at Dank Cannabis Weed Dispensary Parkdale and 420 Cannabis on 26 Avenue SW on Nov. 22.

Investigators believe the same people are responsible for each of these robberies.

In each case, they say suspects left with an unknown amount of cash and cannabis products from the store.

Officers say some of the assailants were masked and armed with weapons such as handguns, hammers, and knives in the incidents.

S Sgt. John Guigon says it’s important to catch the offenders — especially given the level of violence already demonstrated.

“At least one situation where a worker in one of the stores was kicked unconscious. So yeah there is extreme violence,” he told CityNews.

“And reports that at least one of the robbers has a gun and another with a knife or some other edged weapon.”

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
