Milk River ER closed for the weekend: AHS

Would-be patients looking for medical care at Milk River’s emergency department won’t find it there this weekend.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) says a shortage of doctors means the ER for the town south of Calgary near the U.S. border is closed until Monday, Jan. 22, at 8 a.m.

The ER was also closed for the same reason from Thursday evening until Friday morning.

AHS says nursing staff will be on-site to tend to long-term care residents.

Anyone with a medical emergency is advised to call 911.

Patients can also access emergency services at the Raymond Health Centre which is about 60 kilometres away or Lethbridge which is an 87 km drive.
