Calgary police seek man who allegedly pulled out edged weapon in grocery store

A man allegedly caught stealing from a grocery store in southwest Calgary reacted by pulling out an edged weapon before fleeing Sunday, police say.

Officers tell CityNews the man in his 40s was caught stealing “various items” from a Co-op in the 2500 block of Southland Drive just before 1:30 p.m.

When approached by staff, the man presented a “large-edged weapon” and fled the scene, police say.

No injuries have been reported.

Officers are currently circulating the area, but have not found the suspect.

He is described as being between 5’6 and 5’7 with a slim build and was seen wearing a red shirt, blue jeans, and a grey hat.
