Calgary police release sketch of deceased man, search for next of kin

Calgary police have released a sketch of an unidentified man found dead last year in hopes of finding his family.

In December 2023, police say the man was found dead in the doorway of an abandoned building on Centre Street SE.

The death was deemed non-criminal following an autopsy, however, despite several attempts to identify the man by the medical examiner’s office and police, his identity remains unknown and his next of kin is outstanding.

Police say by releasing the sketch, they hope someone will be able to provide investigators with the man’s name, so answers can be delivered to his family who are out there not knowing what happened to him.

He is in his 30s or 40s, about 5’7″ tall and 120 pounds, with a slim build, brown eyes, and black hair.

The man was found wearing high-top Vans with white lines on them, black Puma sweatpants, a Barrel N’ Brew white shirt, a Tri-Mountain blue fleece jacket, a Tommy Hilfiger brown puffy jacket, and an Athletic Works blue and black jacket.

Sketches provided by policce show images of the man’s tattoos and a likeness of his face.

His tattoos are described as: “1965,” a crown, “CJW” and “BEAVER” on the left hand above the thumb and index finger; a moth on his right hand; and a rose in a cornucopia on his right inside forearm.
