After being ruled day-to-day with a lower-body injury on March 12, Calgary Flames goalie Jacob Markstrom has been cleared to return to practice and game action, the team announced Thursday.

The Flames also announced that backup goalie Dan Vladar will undergo season-ending hip surgery next week.

“The surgery will allow Vladar the rehabilitation period required for a full recovery and to ensure he is ready to start the 2024-25 NHL season on schedule,” Calgary said in a release.

Markstrom, who last appeared in a game on March 9, is 22-17-10 with a .910 save percentage and 2.68 goals-against average this season.

Dustin Wolf, 22, will remain on the roster on an emergency recall basis. Wolf has played in each of Calgary’s last four games, and has posted a 3-4-1 record with an .897 save percentage and 3.25 goals-against average in eight total NHL appearances.

Vladar, 26, will end his season having played in 19 games, going 8-9-2 with a 3.62 goals-against average and .882 save percentage.

The Flames hold a 33-30-5 record, and play next on Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks, a game you can see on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+.
