NE hit and run sends 1 to hospital, 1 arrest made: Calgary police

A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital after a hit and run in northeast Calgary Sunday, and police say they have made an arrest.

Calgary police say they responded just after 1 a.m. to a hit-and-run at the traffic circle on 46 Street NE.

Officers believe there were multiple parties involved in a “dispute” in the area, saying a man in his 20s struck another man in his 20s with his Jeep, who was in the roadway at the time.

The man who was struck was then dragged a short distance before the driver of the Jeep fled. Investigators believe speed and impairment are not involved.

Police say the friends of the struck man took him to hospital with serious injuries, but his condition was later upgraded to non-life-threatening.

Meanwhile, officers tell CityNews they have made one arrest, but no charges have been laid.

The roads were blocked as police investigated, and were reopened at around 7:30 a.m.

Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call them at 403-266-1234 or leave a tip anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
