Severe thunderstorm warning ends for Calgary as storms move across province

A severe thunderstorm warning that was in place for Calgary has now come to an end as a line of storms move their way across the province on Tuesday evening.

The warning from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) was issued around 5 p.m. and stretched from Edmonton to Calgary with meteorologists warning of storms producing very strong wind gusts.

The warning was lifted after 6:30 p.m.

The north end of Calgary was reportedly hit with the worst of the weather with the airport reporting wind gusts near 100 km/h.

The agency issues warnings when thunderstorms are imminent or occurring storms are likely to produce large hail, damaging winds and torrential rainfall.
