Millennium Park gets a rebrand, will host Cowboys Music Festival starting next year

Millennium Park in downtown Calgary is getting a rebrand.

The city announced Friday the outdoor space in the west end of downtown near 9 Avenue and 14 Street SW will now be known as ‘Cowboys Park.’

The 10-year naming and sponsorship deal will see a revamp of the park and make way for it to become the new home of the Cowboys Music Festival starting in 2025.

“The vision is to work in partnership with the city to upgrade and enhance the park site to welcome and invite more community use and to attract more local and international festivals to host on Calgary’s first plug-and-play outdoor event site,” says Paul Vickers, owner and founder of Cowboys.

In a release, the city says the deal will see the rebranded park host more than 100,000 visitors each year for national and international events.

“The evolution to Cowboys Park and the planned infrastructure improvements will ensure that this space remains a dynamic and accessible destination” says Mayor Jyoti Gondek in a statement. “Providing an event-ready space reflects our commitment to a downtown that thrives year-round.”

The park is currently home to outdoor climbing boulders and the country’s largest free outdoor skate park. The city says additional upgrades will be made for next year and further into the future.
