Calgary motorcycle crash leaves man with life-altering injuries

Calgary police say speed was a factor in a motorcycle crash on Sunday that left a man with life-altering injuries.

Investigators say just after 7 p.m., a sport-style motorcycle was driving east on Memorial Drive near 36 Street SE, when the 25-year-old rider hit the north curb, causing him to slide into the grass median before hitting a large tree and stopping.

The rider flew off the motorcycle and hit the bottom of a road sign, according to police.

He was taken to hospital in serious condition.

Drugs and alcohol aren’t considered to be factors in the crash.

Anyone who saw the collision or who has dashcam footage is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or tip anonymously through CrimeStoppers.
